1. Why does the South Pacific Region and the industry need another Loss Adjusting Association?

AIRLAP provides support and networking post Nationally Recognised Qualification attainment for members. The Academy's qualifications are the most up to date available. The only other Loss Adjusting Association is AICLA whose default associated RTO is the ANZIFF. AICLA & The ANZIFF represent their study programs to potential Loss Adjusting students and AICLA members as FSA501 - FSA 511 (these are not National Competencies as stated on ANZIFF website). These also should not be what appears on a graduate's Academic Record. The Loss Adjusting self study material booklets supplied to myself and others as students of ANZIFF have multiple substantial introductory pages; between 15 - 17 pages which is in some cases is 20% of what appears as learning material in the study booklet. Learning resources have large paragraph gaps, and wide page margins on both sides of each page which a 1960s primary school teacher would be proud of. This makes for what appears to be a large learning resource, but is also a lot of white space. Examinations are conducted as the main form of assessment which conflicts with the Competency Based Assessment system. Vague, subjective and ambiguous percentages are awarded by assessors such as 49% without explanation or feedback. Our expereince was that any form of assessment appeal or Recognition of Prior Learning could be delayed without explanation and exam resit costs were $300.00. AICLA are either blissfuly unaware of; or ignoring what the students are being supplied with, subjected to or told and how they are treated. All the talk about Chartered Loss Adjuster status achievement is good for those who hold it now and excludes the next decade's emerging group at the foundation point - initial learning and study. Competition from AIRLAP is good for the individual, good for the employer and valuable to transparency in the compliance industry.

3. Will insurers recognise my membership status?

Recognition by insurers will come over time and introductory initiatives are in place for capacity building. Government Agencies at all three levels are already on board with our Fraud Control program, our fraud training is well received across corporate, government and insurance areas.  As the emerging Association there is foundation work to do in order to achieve client awareness, confidence and build corporate and insurer client relationships. Over 150 Loss Adjusters have gained their qualifications from the Australian Security Academy. In excess of 3,000 students have graduated from the Academy since 2001. The Academy has commenced training in New Zealand and established contacts there with major insurers. The Academy has commenced the approval process for Certificate IV in General Insurance and Certificate IV in Loss Adjusting. These qualifications will introduce our organisation to multiple claims & corporate managers over time. AIRLAP is also in the process of becoming an approved Security Industry Association to satisfy membership requirements for licensed investigators for continuance of Licensing in various states of Australia. As insurers become aware that the level of training they expect is not being delivered by their current preferred RTO, and this has been hidden from them for some time interest will accelerate at AIRLAP. The commercial corporate world has a vested interest in emerging, sound and positively productive competition from suppliers in Compliance Education and Professional Development such as this opportunity provided through AIRLAP. As you progress in AIRLAP membership level you will achieve personal development goals that are rewarded by increased level of membership and industry recognition is achieved through that process.

4. How can I help?

If you are a graduate of the Australian Security Academy join the AIRLAP as a member and actively monitor and participate in the Linkedin and Facebook Groups. Tell other people you know about AIRLAP. Encourage others about AIRLAP and build the Investigation, OH&S, Security Risk, Government Investigation / Fraud Control and Loss Adjusting Industry Association for everyone, not just the "Old Boys Club".

5. I live in New Zealand can I join? I Live in Japan can I join?

Regardless of where you live, if you are an Australian Security Academy Graduate Student, holding a qualification no more than six years old you can join AIRLAP.

6. When are elections held how can I be elected to a committee?

Nominations for office are currently being designed by the foundation steering committee of Michael Evans, Patrick Flynn and Casey Evans. Consultation will be sought from members as they join. Currently we anticipate our first elections will be ready by August 30th 2012. initially committees will be engaged in building the association and it's direction.

7. Why is AIRLAP only for Australian Security Academy graduates?

The Australian Security Academy is justly proud of the successful study completion of all of it's 3000 plus graduate students. AIRLAP is a value add for information, networking and growth in their chosen profession. It is also a protection for students in a wide variety of areas adding political muscle through the association to issues facing the industry. Universities have Alumni Associations, and any other RTO's can start their own Association. Multiple current RTO owners, teachers and assessors are Australian Security Academy Graduates and welcome to join AIRLAP.

8. I am not a loss Adjuster why should I be involved?

Loss Adjusting and it's associated image problems with ANZIFF education and the limited "blokey - become a Fellow" association of  AICLA is just one current example of what AIRLAP is addressing for the industry. Yes it is a major issue. AIRLAP members  are from Risk Management, Investigation, Government Investigation / Fraud Control, Government Statutory and Court Compliance, OH&S, Workplace Inspection, Mercatile Agents, Compliance Education and Loss Adjusing fields. AIRLAP represents all members from all fields as required. In the past Academy Graduates and Management have tackeled serious industry issues affecting our students, this Association is a more formal vehicle for all our graduates, clients and supporters.

9. What is the rush?

There is none. In the same way Mike Evans planned and built the Registered Training Organisation The Australian Security Academy prior to it's establishment in 2001, AIRLAP has been in the planning process for several years. The opportunity exists now for you to become a Foundation Member and assist in building the industry's positive direction and your  future. Academy graduates may come on board at any time within the requirements of each level of membership.

10. Are there any other established similar associations I could research?

Yes there are and I am on record for my support of AISP Victoria in it's curent form and others for the excellent industry work they do. I don't support ASIAL and AICLA for what they say they do, but do not deliver on for Investigators, Government Investigation Statutory Compliance and Fraud Controllers, Loss Adjusters, OH&S, Risk Management, Court Compliance and Compliance Investigation Education Professionals. AIRLAP is for Australian Security Academy Graduates industry excellence, inclusion of women and building member level industry respect within the compliance industry.
