Do you want investigate for the Taxation Office, Customs, Medicare, Comcare, Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Park Authority, Families Housing and Community Services, Foreign Affairs, Human Services, Transport, Health and Aging, Veteran's Affairs, Immigration, Tourism, Climate Change, Treasury, Education Employment and Workplace Relations Child Support, Centrelink, or Australia Post as an Investigator? In fact every Federal Government Department must have employees with this qualification to undertake internal as well as external investigations. Fraud against the Australian Government is a major concern to the Government. The Government is therefore strongly committed to the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of fraud against the Commonwealth. Internally some Public Servants (not all) succumb to loyalty to friends, gifts and relatives, and do favours, circumvent policy and procedure and give advantage to those people. Inappropriate conduct, inappropriate use of power and relinquishing professional integrity is an issue in the public service. Capacity building is conducted by all commonwealth agencies to raise awareness of internal as well as external fraud, including doing favours for mates, associates and those who would seek to pay for them.
The Commonwealth Fraud Control Guidelines outline the principles of fraud control within the Commonwealth and set national minimum standards to assist agencies carry out their responsibilities to combat fraud against their programs. The Guidelines outline agency responsibilities for fraud prevention, reporting of fraud information, fraud investigation case handling and training of agency fraud investigators and fraud prevention officers.
The Guidelines apply to all agencies that are subject to the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 and・E@Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 bodies that are at least 50% budget funded for their operating costs. Other Government agencies are encouraged to comply with the Guidelines.
Under the Guidelines, agencies are required put in place a comprehensive fraud control program to protect Australian Government revenue, expenditure and property from attempts to gain illegal benefits.
Without this qualification you can't be considered to be a formally qualified investigator within the Federal Public Service. State and local Governments have followed the initiative of the Commonwealth. Now is the time to secure your qualified future in Government Fraud Control.
